A Personal Confession that Jesus Christ is the Lord
“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” - Luke 6:46
Without question, Jesus Christ is the Lord! The only question is if Jesus Christ is your Lord. Or are you the lord over your own life? That’s the point of the question in Luke 6:46. Have you come to a place of absolute surrender before the Lord? The Son of God is offended when people pay tribute through empty words. “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” (Mat 15:8).

Professing Christians these days think that they can please God with mere words by addressing Jesus Christ respectfully through verbalizing the divine titles that He deserves, not knowing that a lifestyle of disobedience to Jesus Christ renders it all vain. The heathen, as falsely converted Christians, have infiltrated the Church and led it astray through “vain repetitions” that are without merit before the throne of God. “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” (Matt. 6:7).

The Lordship of Jesus Christ requires your obedience. Any confession that Jesus is the Lord without obedience means absolutely nothing. Even if your so called “Christian” life is filled with much spiritual activity –prophesying, casting out devils, and many wonderful works – you will still be condemned before God if you are living in sin.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” - Matt. 7:21-23
These “Christians” are so confident that they deserve to go to Heaven, that they are arguing with God as they are denied entrance into glory! Can you believe it? Their confession of Jesus as the Lord proved to be false. Why? Jesus told them, “I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matt. 7:23). Despite the abundance of spiritual activity in their lives, these “Christians” were so sinful that they stood condemned on Judgment Day. However, it’s only because they were never truly Christian to begin with. Jesus said that He “never” knew them. A devil masquerading in the name of Jesus deceived them (2 Cor. 11:4)! It gave them power to do so many impressive things, while distracting them from the fact that they are still in bondage to sin.

If the spirit that you are communing with isn’t making you holy, then it’s not the Holy Spirit (Heb. 12:14). If the words you are hearing in the spirit aren’t making you free from sin, allowing for a life of obedience to God, then you are not hearing the truth of Jesus Christ the Lord. “If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32). You’ve been taught that if you “call upon the name of the Lord” that you “shall be saved” (Rom. 10:13), but you must call upon Him in truth and with sincerity (Ps. 145:18). You must come to a place of absolute surrender before the LORD. Otherwise, Jesus Christ will despise your prayers (Ps. 66:18, Prov. 15:8, 28:9, Isa. 1:15, James 4:3)! Jesus Christ is the Lord, but he must become your Lord for your prayers to be sincere resulting in salvation. True faith in the Gospel produces obedience (Rom. 6:1-7, 10:9-10).
“Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” – 1 John 3:7-10
